Student Story – A family learning Japanese while traveling – Adam W
The teachers were fantastic – we loved our teachers – the style and structure of how they taught sentence patterns and grammar was very different from any other courses that I had taken either at private language schools or even back in high school.
In this blog we interviewed Adam who has studied with us for two months.
Adam works in investment and over the past year – he was able to bring his family with him across the globe – while they lived and experienced a year abroad in many different countries – including learning Japanese in Tokyo.
Why are you learning Japanese?
I studied japanese in highschool but always we enjoy coming to japan quite a bit since we live in Hawaii – so I always try to keep up with some basic Japanese study.
I knew since we were going to live here in Japan for two months – I wanted to get better with my Japanese – and since we homeschool our children i thought it would be better to augment their homeschooling by having them learn some Japanese as well.
How did you hear about Coto Japanese Club?
Google – google internet search – I was looking for language schools near where we were staying in Azabu -Juban – and i found three so I emailed all three – and had a look at their website and Coto had the best website.
What was your experience with Coto Japanese Club – did it match your expectations?
I didn’t really know what to expect – I personally had taken language classes when we lived in Spain – and attended a similar type of language school in Spain but it was only private lessons. It wasn’t group lessons – so the learning dynamic was different from that experience.
When I was here at Coto Club I took both private and group lessons and this was the first time that I was in a group classroom learning setting for a long time so that was interesting and fun to be in that dynamic again.
I was really impressed with the professionalism of the teachers – the friendliness of the staff – the environment of the school – everything from the layout of the space to the furniture was very welcoming. Everything was well done – so i was really appreciative of that because it made the environment much more conducive to learning.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
The teachers were fantastic – we loved our teachers – the style and structure of how they taught sentence patterns and grammar was very different from any other courses that I had taken either at private language schools or even back in high school.
The style just seemed much more fun and easy to pick up – so we would highly recommend it to anyone considering studying here!
