  • Expat Expo Tokyo 2021

    Connecting internationals locals and exhibitors together in one place, Expat Expo 2021 returns as the largest hub for foreign residents in the city. It's the perfect opportunity for you to find English-friendly businesses in Japan.

    From international schools and legal to medical care and real estate agencies, all of their services are specifically tailored for expats. You can expect all the fun things going on there – think job fairs, cultural performances and fun activities on booths.

    Coto will also be participating in booth where you can make your own Japanese-style kaleidoscope (Wafu Mangekyo)!

  • Coto x Shibuya Community Event

    We’re hosting a free community event for international Tokyo residents at the a Tokyo's coolest art space Shibuya Furukas. We want to ask you about your ideas for events and student community — and give an opportunity to practice speaking Japanese with new people. Connect with other current and former students, as well as our staff.

    Azusa-san, Kana-San, and Yukiko-San will be attending and they really want to learn from you what kind of events you’d like to see us organize.

    It’ll be a full-on casual event, so there’s no need to dress up. It's a pay-as-yo-go event, with drinks and snacks available for purchase. We’re all about forming genuine connections and getting to know you better.

    Stop by. Grab a drink or two — and stick around a tad longer. We can't wait to meet you there!

  • “Welcome to Japan” Free Online Workshop

    Welcome to Japan! ~ Let’s Learn “Basic Japanese Living Skills”

    Designed for students with little to no Japanese ability, this online workshop will you basic living skills for every day life in Tokyo.
    It's perfect for you if you are a new resident to Japan.

    In this workshop you will learn:

    What are the features of the Japanese language (sound, character, etc.)
    Basic Japanese for every day use (Greetings, Introductions, Ordering Food, Shopping etc.)
    Practical Japanese for the current COVID-19 Situation ("Do you have a face mask?"etc.)

  • Grand Sumo Tournament

    Coto has reserved tickets for a special tournament that takes place only once a year for one day in February! If you have never enjoyed a sumo game before, do not miss this great chance to discover and enjoy watching this Japanese sport.

  • Discover NOH & KYOGEN October 31

    Have you ever experienced one of the Japanese traditional performing arts?
    Coto offers you a special chance to experience and to discover the classical art of Japanese drama, Noh and Kyogen!

    Noh and Kyogen are traditional performing arts that have been practiced within Japan for over 600 years. As they are both performed on the same stage – they are collectively referred to as “Nohgaku”. The two are staged frequently even now and continue to awe and inspire us. Noh and its highly refined movements and theatrics have influenced various arts. Noh has also been registered as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 2008.

  • Japanese Sake Workshop 7/27

    Learn the Basics of Japanese Rice Wine (Sake)!

    ​We will be holding a Japanese Sake Workshop to learn the basics of Japanese rice wine on Saturday, July 27th.
    The workshop will begin with an introduction by Yamazaki san, a sake specialist, followed by a tasting session with 5 different types of Japanese sake.

    Let’s Watch Kabuki Together!
    Have you seen Kabuki Live? Watch the performance of a kabuki masterpiece depicting the various emotions of ordinary people in the Edo period – the seats will be very close to the stage. This is a great way to appreciate the artistry and colorful costumes.
